oops,,, Its a really good sound, not at all like I thought it would be. I figured it would be really high pitched,, but it's just like Drew said, it sounds like a jet engine taking off. Reminds me of a C-5 starting down the runway,,,,, I LOOOOOOVE it. It only took like 15 minutes, and that includes removing and reinstalling the K&N.

The sound is hard to explain. With the stock airbox removed the high pitch of the turbo could be heard. With the silencer ring removed, its like the sound produced is more of a fuller sound (if that makes sense). Its not irritating loud, in fact, at crusing speeds it isnt loud at all. When accelerating it sounds just like a jet taking off, and then levels out at crusing speed.

how about a mp3 of it? think that's doable? I havent yanked mine yet as I think my truck (pre-aero) was loud enough and didnt want to make it worse. now with the aero it's much quieter and am re-thinking the ring.

after I removed my silencer ring I did notice more and more people rolling up their windows when I pulled up next to them on the highway. . .I guess it doesnt help when I also give her a bit more throttle to bring up the boost 2-4 more pounds to make it louder when I do see someone with their windows rolled down[sm=badbadbad.gif]

Tuesday I was playing around with a tractor wrecker on the highway, he was laying down some smoke so I decided to pull ahead of him a bit and give him some smoke for fun, next thing I see is the thickest, blackest smoke from this guys stacks as he does 80 past me(I was doing 70 at the time) people were literaly diveing off the road to get away from the smoke the both of us were making.

I wish I had my camera!!![:@]

What type of K&N do you have; out of curiosity? Drop in or cold air type?

Ive got the cold air (tube, sheild and filter). Without the ring, the turbo produces more noise,, but its not a high pitched irritating sound. I'm telling you, it reminds me of a c-5 taking off,, sounds just like a jet engine. Its cooooool, and everybody can hear it. Taking off the cat, and silencer ring kinda scared me at first b/c of the noise, but they really arent that bad. And as far as the ring goes,, it only takes like 15-20 min to remove,,, so try it, and if you dont like it, just put it back. The best part is, it didnt cost a dime to try.
