speaking of dogs... I may be taking mine on a nice long walk friday... thinking about hiking back to this area called the 5 lakes basin and tossing in the line to see whats hungry this time of year. also thinking of getting Louie a floatation vest since he cant swim and let him have his fun out there (yeah I know the fishing & dog swiming thing doesnt mix but he's fun to watch).

we got Piper when he was 2 months old, he is the runt of the litter and already had a brush with death. . .he got his name from that, he fell into a 3 inch drainage pipe when he was only a few weeks old. the breeder called and the fire department had to come out and cut most of the pipe away to get close to him, then use fishing line to hook around a paw to pull him out the rest of the way.
the fire department gave him the name. . .it just stuck

wow, quite a story!
louie was adopted from the SPCA, the day we picked him up I thought we adopted the dog from hell, he just about ripped my arm off, strong, hella strong. put him thru 16 weeks of training and now 1 year later he is the most spoiled dog i've ever owned. this dog has so much character its unbelieveable... he'll grab his tennis ball, come over to you while your on the computer and toss it on you until you play with him. he'll have it in his mouth an dare you to take it away from him, then once I have it i'll tease him with it and he'll use his mouth & teeth until he knows he has all ball, then chomp. Rarely do I ever catch a tooth. as soon as he knows he got me he lets up.
anyways I take him hiking every time I go (when dogs are ok on the trail) and he is used to the 8~10 mile hikes I like to do. So friday should be another nice "walk" for him.
oh yeah, another thing... he cant swim so he needs a life preserver to keep is *** afloat, otherwise, he sinks like a rock!
