48RE Valve Body Recommendations
I am considering replacing my stock 48RE valve body with a beefier aftermarket unit. I am looking for suggestions and experiences from those that have done this modification. Specifically, I would like to know how the shifts feel after replacing the valve body. My last truck (Ford F-250 Powerstroke) had a shift kit installed in the transmission and it would rattle my teeth out with every shift, even if I was just putting around town. Thanks!
By the way, I am also looking for exhaust recommendations. I'm not looking for anything real loud, just a better sound and lower EGT's. Thanks!

RE: 48RE Valve Body Recommendations
Years ago there use to be only 2 types of shift kits. One was called Street and the other was a racing kit. Today I think most people call it Street/towing kit and the other is still called a Racing shift kit. It sounds to me like they put a racing kit in your F 250 and not a street/tow shift kit that you would of wanted so as to not snap your neck around when it shifted.
As for exhaust check with Steve05ram360 as if you change it the wrong way you can either lose top or lower end torque.

RE: 48RE Valve Body Recommendations
oops I missed the exhaust Q...
I put on a 30" mag and deleted the cat and lost alot of low end and about 1.0 mpg. egt's dropped down some as well. when cooling down the egt's would drop real quick. the top end screamed as it was breathing really easy. sound level was ok as well, not too loud but under load you knew what you had under there. I recently added the Aero turbine 4040 to the exhaust and placed it right where the cat was. low end torque came back as did a little of the lost mpg, egt's might have gone up slightly as there is now a tad bit of backpressure in the exhaust now. cooldown is still pretty quick but heck I dont care, I have the TST to monitor it while I'm exiting the truck. I consistantly average around 15 mpg city/hiway.
