Default Dyno the truck - question ...

Some friends of mine are dynoing (spelling?) their cars this weekend and asked if I wanted to pull the truck. Its only $75 for 3 pulls so i might. If I do, do I leave it in auto and dyno in third gear, or do I put it in tow mode and third gear, or the 06 has the option to turn off the OD and third gear. Everyone is wondering what it will make, me included LOL. Thanks ....

i'd do it in 3rd. wont matter if you have the tow/haul set or not, since the OD will be in the off position. If you can try to start from 1200 or so rpms to get a good picture of the power. you should be able to do it I think.

your best tq numbers are going to come from you being in a 1:1 dive ratio, your best hp numbers are going to come from being in overdrive.

however the best numbers for baseline runs are just as steve said, 3rd and staring out at 1200, this way you can see on the dyno graph exactly where the turbo kicks in and how it effects the performance of the engine.

without the turbo these engines would only put out around 150 or so horse

You put it in drive, let off the brake and the rear wheels will start turning. Then slowly give it gas like your driving down the street and the trans will start shifting gears like it would normally. Once into third gear, the dyno guy presses a button that starts recording and then you mat the gas pedal like you are racing until your redline and then get off the gas. I just wasn't sure if I should have the OD on or off, and whether or not to run it in tow mode. Im looking for the best TQ numbers, so 3rd gear, OD off correct?

Roll into the go pedal, don't just stomp it. It will respond better.

Local Yokel, Are you going to see what the Triple dog really does? I would love to see what my Crazy Larry puts to the wheels. Have fun, I know I would.

Yes, I get three pulls so 2 will be in Crazy Larry and one in Tow Mode ...
