How many fuel pumps has your truck had?
I'm curious to know about fuel pump failures. Let us know how many pumps you've gone thru, how many miles you had when you had to replace, and what aftermarket pumps you might be using now.
For my part the dealer replaced under warrenty at about 40k miles both my vp44 injection pump and the lift pump with their replacement kit (new vp44 and the lift pump replacement into the tank, or so that's what was described to me, is that right?). I'm using Drew's Brew hoping this will keep my vp44 happier in the future.

I replaced my VP44 because of fuel starvation in my 02, ( at least that is what we figure it was), the carter in tank was replaced shortley after ( 500 miles or so ) with the F.A.S.S . Before F.A.S.S my fuel presure was 8- 9 and after the presure never went below 20, ( it kind of just stayed in the area of 20) no matter how hard I puched it.
I also started to use the Lucas Brand Lube after the VP44 , man did the guy that bought my 02 CTD get a great truck or what?

My original lift pump went out at around 140k miles. It was replaced with the Carter in-tank pump. I did not replace the VP44 and now have 160k miles on it. I plan on putting a FASS pump on the truck some time this winter.

Where did you get it?
Man I wish I had known in advanvce about your getting rid of your 2002 !! That guy got one helluva truck !!
My '04's pump went out at 45K miles. Kept that truck another 20K - don't know what happened after that. Supposedly the '06's have a different pump, and are less prone to failure - time will tell...
