Don't know about the CAT, but DC is working with Cummins on new V6's and V8's for '09

the chances of ford putting a cummins under the hood of their 2/350's is about nill. Ford has too much invested into international to drop them.

now, whith that said you can find factory cummins 5.9L ISB's under the hoods of fords. . .the 6/750's

also, CAT building an engine the size of ours is also NOT going to happen. they dont like makeing one-of engines for a specific market. the smallest engine Cat makes I believe is around 7 liter and weighs WAY too much to go under the hood of our trucks.

Drew is correct.

If DCX was to drop cummins they would probably use a diesel from Mercedes. Since they own them.

Drew didnt CAT make a diesel for chevy a while back?
Id like to see Detroit come into play with one of the big 3.

That's absolutely correct.....

Although there's a very, very good chance you'll see a Cummins in a Nissan Titan......and I'd bet money on it that you'll see a Cummins in a Japanese truck before you'll see it in a Ford F150-450

I believe International is working on a 4.5L V6 diesel for the F150's. in some countries where emissions are not as stringent I believe you can get diesels as an option in the F150's.

I'll have to dig at some of my back issues, but in a TDR mag from last year or the year before there were spy shots of a 5.6L V8 cummins under the hood of a 1500. hp numbers were around 300hp and 550tq. there was also a 4.2L v6 with around 225hp and 400tq. I'm not sure of the exact numbers but I believe they are around that.

in this months Diesel Power they have info on the V6 and V8 Cummins for the Durango and 1500. the V6 is supose to put out 270hp and 420 lb-ft of torque the V8 is rateded at 325hp and 500lb-ft of torque. i have the article if anyone wants any other info from it.

and as for CAT powered trucks, Dodge had a 7.2L Cat-powered Power Wagon Concept in like 98 and like it has been said you can get CAT powered F650s. David Kennedy of Diesel Power thinks that Toyota might try to strike a deal with CAT even.

That was the original gossip...how ever from what Iam hearing now, Ford is going to CAT and Cummins is staying with Dodge...if you want a good laugh ask the dealer about it, one of the guys I spoke with said "yeah right...Cummins is the best thing to happen to light and medium duty trucks since tires...I dont see that happening" So only time will tell, but Im believing more and more that Ford and Cat are up to something

well if they make a CAT powered Ranger ill be in line to buy one. i was bored one day and started trying to figure out if it would be possible to drop a 3.9L I4 Cummins in a Ranger with out too many modifications or the truck. i like the Ranger body better than the S10 and the Dakota doesnt seem like a mini truck to me.
