Well I did it. For 30,999 picked up a 2006 , Silver RAM 2500 4x4CTD. Now to do some heavy reading on this site and in my owners manual. I am getting kind of scared after reading all the cautions and warnings about the diesel motor.

Don't be scared! It won't bite - and it's not nearly as scary as they make it sound - that's just corporate America's mode now...cover your **** so the consumer can't go back to you and win something.
I don't worry about mine any more than a gasser - I just remember two things...1) don't turn the key to the crank position until the little coil light goes off (or the various warning lights when it's warm), and 2) don't shut the engine off right away when you pull over from a high speed cruise - let it cool down for a minute or so first. Otherwise, I don't do anything different from a gasser. (oh yes, I put diesel in it rather than gas - LOL)

Wow, that is a heck of a deal...congrats!! Is that the one that you said invoiced at 38,600?? If so, that's 2,600 under invoice which is the best deal I've heard of.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you go about the offer? I just put in an offer for 700 under invoice and the salesperson won't budge.

Congrats. I am a newbie too, and you're making me rethink my plan to start with a pre-98.5 used CTD. If it will take 12-15K for a used one, and I could get a new one for 30K, I may reconsider. As the end of the year starts to approach I bet the dealers will be looking to unload the last of their 06 stock.
Don't be scared: be excited.

I spoke with the Fleet guy (never talk to the guys on the floor). He emailed his quote with his "best" deal. I started at 4G's under invoice and I haggled up from there. It also helped that the dealer had quite a few 06's on the lot.

CONGRATS Sluggo !!!

Welcome aboard !!

I too was nervous as hell when I first got my Ram because of it being a diesel and not being familiar with diesels. I too felt very intimidated and it wasn't until lately that I've become comfortable working on it. You'll get there, don't worry.

countrydoc .... I think your on the right track in considering a new Ram over a used one. With all of the incentives being offered and the deals being made out there I too would be thinking about a new Ram. Try not to have TOO many sleepless nights !!
