New Member, looking at getting my 1st Dodge Truck
Hello to all.
I am looking at purchasing a new 2006 Dodge 2500 4x2 with a 5.9 Turbo Diesel. I have recently purchased a Malibu Wakesetter boat and found my Chevy Tahoe is not really up to the task of towing the 5000+ pound boat and trailer with its 5.3L gas motor. Will keep the Tahoe as a "minivan" for the Family and kids.
After looking at Ford, Chevy and Dodge I am leaning heavily towards Dodge. Based mainly off looks and the reputation of reliability of the Cummins motor. I don't think I would take a Ford SD if someone gave it to me (shudder). I like the Chevy with its Duramax, but in my area most of the 06's have been sold.
The dealer is asking for 32,700 for this Vehicle:
DODGE RAM 2500 SLT QUAD CAB 4X2
Exterior Color: Atlantic Blue Pearl Coat Paint
Interior Color: Med. Slate Gray
Interior: Cloth 40/20/40 Premium Bench Seat
Engine: 5.9L HO Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine
Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic Transmission
Light Group $ 180
Glove Box Lamp
Ash Tray Lamp
Sun Visors w/Illum. Vanity Mirrors
Front Dome Lamp with On/Off Switch
Underhood Lamp
Rear View Auto Dim Mirror
Trailer Tow Group $ 275
Class IV Hitch Receiver
7-Pin Wiring Harness
Folding Flat Load Floor Storage $ 100
4-Speed Automatic Transmission $ 1,095
Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle $ 285
5.9L HO Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine $ 5,555
11.50 Rear Axle
750-Ampere Maintenance-Free Battery
Rear Sliding Window $ 140
Fold-Away Power Trailer Tow Mirrors $ 100
Fog Lamps $ 140
California Emissions
AM/FM Stereo w/In-Dash 6-Disc CD/MP3 $ 950
7 Infinity(TM) Speakers
Tow Hooks $ 50
DESTINATION CHARGE $ 900
TOTAL PRICE:* $ 40,160
Does this sound like a reasonable deal?

Dude, from what I've been hearing you can get a Megacab ( bigger, roomier ) loaded for abour 32K. Tell the dealer to go pound sand !!
Welcome aboard though !! It's always cool to see some new faces !!
Megacab ...
Inside of the Megacab ...
Ditch the Minivan and get yourself a MEGACAB !!!!

Slug,
I would say that Dealer is asking a bit too much for that truck. I bought my 06 about two months ago; QC, auto, 4x4, SLT. Sticker on the truck was $41,675 and I got it for $32,400. I believe you said the truck you were looking at was not 4x4, so I would say that price is out of line.

This truck carries a sticker of 40,160 and the dealer is asking 32,700. So it looks like they should be able to come down around 1-2 K more, if I am not mistaken. Will offer 29,700 and see what they say.

Bought one very near the one you are talking about in Janurary 06,sticker was $40,320....paid $31,500...no doc fees..no up charges..no other charges....$31,500....did have to let them finance $5,000 to get some sort of business rebate.
Try to hold on til the end of the month, thats when they deal.

Ok changed my mind LOL.
Looking at a 2006 SLT 2500 4x4. Invoices for 38,600 -5000 rebates so 33,600. Will offer 30,200 and see what they say.
BTW, does anyone have any info on how the U connect feature works? Is it bluetooth? Is it any good?
