Default CTD idled up by itself this am

I started the truck this am, ( keep it inside no heat yet ) -7 celsius in the garage or 19.5 F, anyway, after the preheater did it's thing after the truck was ideling for about a minute, it sped up to about 1100rpm, and stayed there. I had to move it out of the garage and as soon as I hit the brake the CTD slowed back down. I moved it and let it sit idling while I went in the house for a cup a Joe , and just when I was coming back out I heard it speed up to about 1100rpm again, I though coool a auto idle up feature.
So I did not think any more of it and drove off, about a 1/2 hour later I stopped for fuel ( engine and temp ) I left in running while I fueled up and again the idle sped up only for about 30 seconds , then it slowed back down to normal idle speed.

Anyone else getting this, this is the 2007 5.9 , with the new " NETWORKED SYSTEMS" ( what ever that means ).

My '06 is the same way but it just doesnt start to idle up for about 3 min. I have some scheduled maintenance here this week and I was going to have them "turn on" the man. idle up as I think you can increase the idle greater than 1100.

That combined with a cold front grille insert should keep my wife from loosing fillings durirng thy usual 10 minute drive before she really starts to make heat!

I think it is mad because you left it home when you went on your trip.

LMAO !!!!!

Yeah, I think your right !!!

King, I remember someone here saying that the high idle feature will kick in every time that your temp drops below a certain temp. I could have it wrong, but I think that's how it worked. Jake was saying that the temp drops off again after sitting for a few minutes. Perhaps it was cold enough for your tempto drop low enough for the idle thing to kick back on? I dunno, I don't have the feature, but I'm pretty sure that's how it went.

Yes Hiloram is probably correct and how can you argue that one ?

I doo recall someone mentioning it, I just found it odd that it would kick back in again once it was up to temp .

That's the thing. Apparently if it's cold enough outside just because the engine is running it CAN drop below temp again at an idle. With the temp you were describing of -19, I'd say that was pretty cold.

I did not mean to say -19 sorry should have been 19 F or -7 C , I was also wondering if it could be a by-product perk of my intake ?

It is quite clearly described in the owners manual.
It is normal and should be happening.[sm=icon_rtfm.gif]
