Default Falling engine oil level

I have 13140 miles on my truck. I check the oil every time I fill up. It has never moved until the last two tanks of fuel. Two fill ups ago (1100 miles) my level was 1/4 inch below full, I filled up today and I was below the "S" in the safe zone ( about half way down the safe zone). Like I said my oil has never moved off full before this. I had my oil changed by the dealer at 7500 miles, there is no sign of leaks every thing under the truck is dry. Along with this my last tank mileage dropped by 1 MPG (probably fuel and or driving habits more high speed highway this tank). Other than that everything seems good, runs fine, guage reads normally, no weird sounds. I am freaking because I am leaving on a camping trip tomorrow early AM. That means pulling my 8500 lb camper through the hills and down to the coast about 250 miles one way. Has anyone experienced this, or have any insight? Right now my mind is playing all kinds of games with me (broken ring, fried valve ect). I also haven't noticed any unusual smoke.

Ok diesel techs, jump in and tell me it will be fine, don't worry.

if there are no external leaks (check the air to air tubes) then it's probably burning when you fire it off in the cold. Mine will burn about 1 1/2 qts in the winter because of the colder weather. It doesn't burn any in the summer.

You won't see alot of smoke. If you look hard you'll see a slight blue tint to the exhuast when the engine is cold.

I'm puttind miles on at a rate of 650 - 900 a week. I have been burnin up the roads. Does our safe zone on the stick = 1 quart or 2 ? If it's two I'm down a quart in 1100 miles. By air to air tube are you tlaking about the crankcase vent or the intercooler tubes? Neither of which show signs of leaking BTW.

Choc chip it is.

intercooler lines. I would pull one off to make sure the turbo isn't going out. If I remeber right the hatch mark is 1qt. You'll probably losing a little oil out the breather too since it is a new engine and the rings aren't seated completely.
