I couldn't take it any longer, so i called my dealership about my ball joints. The service manger says "i only like to use MOOG for replacements", to which i replied, hell yea. Anyway, one upper was bad, the other upper had a hair of movement and the lowers were tight. I went ahead and had all four replaced with greasable units since i would hate to replace only the uppers and a month later need to do it again for the lowers. I can't believe the difference. I really think it drives better than new. It cost some $$, but i am glad i did it. I don't really have a point to this post, but i am curious as to how many folks have replaced their ball joints and how has your luck been on the replacements.
I'm 100 miles away from hitting 36K, I checked my ball joints a few months back and all 4 were still good. I had a hair of movement (.009") on the upper right, but I was also pushing it to get there.
I replaced all 4 ball joints and the track arm at the same time. I've got 120k+ on my Moog Ball joints and track arm. The stock ones did not make it to 40k.
My uppers have play in them... I'm not supprised given the off road use it gets. I'm contemplating doing them my self if I can find the right tools to do it.
Steve, I believe someone over at TDR changed them out and the only thing they needed was a pickle fork and basic tools to pop them out. might do a search in a bit and see if I can find that thread.
