Default gasser asking a dumb question

hey guys.. loser gasser here.. lol

i was wondering if your guys 2gen CTD's came with single or dual batteries and if they were 12 volt or 24 volt.. reason why im asking is that there is a 205 amp alt for a 2gen CTD 5.9L and I wanted to make sure of what your guys's stock setup is.. thanks!

95' 2 batteries connected in parallel. Still 12 volt, but double the cold cranking amps. I think the duals are more for the heater grid draw plus enough to turn the starter at the same time. After an all mechainal diesel starts up, it no longer needs any electricity to run.

I believe they are dual 650CCA 12volt batteries wired in parallel. I don't think your stock wiring harness from the alt to the batts will handle that alternator. You'll have to run a larger wire.

BTW: For those who don't now, Shott's got a really good nut and bolt thread floating at the top of the 2nd gen forum. Pretty much describing every nut and bolt on our 2nd gen trucks.

Nice job Shott !!

You can use a 205 alt but you MUST increase the size of the charge wire from the alt to the battery. A 205 amp alt will not put out a true 205 amps due to heat. I would increase the charge wire to at least a 4 gauge. 2 is even better. Run it from the back of the alt to the battery. All done.

Swwwwwweeeeeeeeeetttttt!
