Have you ever accidentally dropped a wrench and had it touch the terminals.
Only once!!...
Exactly!!!

I like to tinker with crap, but I absolutely hate working on electrical crap. Without fail, I shock the snot outta myself everytime I mess with electricity.

You know that little blurb in ALL instructions that says disconnect the (-) on the battery before working. Yeah........I'm that idiot that disregards and says, "Naaah, I'll just be carefaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ah!!! Damn that hurt!"

Well I forgot to get the extension cord out last night. Then it turned to 14 below zero. The old record was 1 degree below back in 1957. Needless to say, I didn't even try starting the CTD this morning. Decided to run the big 4-wheeler (Toyota) this morning instead.

Someone on here said that plugging in is required below -10 degrees? What happens if you don't? I suppose with the cost of repairing a diesel a guy wouldn't want to find out anyway.
That is why they make 5w40 oil so when it is cold out you can start it up and have oil flowing much faster then the thick 15w40 will. These trucks will start at -20 below zero with out being plugged in but you better hope you have 5w40 or 0w40 oil in Canada or you will hear a lot of noise until it does flow.

BTW you did remembered to use anti gel (PS while bottle or Howes) in your fuel the last time you filled up right? FYI, in the winter time always carry a QT bottle of PS Red 911 under the seat just in case the fuel was to gel.

Been puttin the "Drew's Brew" in since I bought the thing. About two tanks ago I switched to using the white bottle with the MMO. So hopefully it won't gel up. Who knows though it might be gelled now, didn't drive it today since it takes about 1/2 the time to get the Toyota warmed up and with the ice I would hate for someone to run into me because they were surprised by the weather and weren't equipped. A lot of hunters were run off early this week due to the storm.

I'll look for some 911 and a spare fuel filter as part of my standard load. Suppose to warm up to about 25 above zero today, so maybe after work I'll have a chance to drive the Dodge around and warm it up. Then back to below zero for tonight. Hope the extension cord can hold the load. Even with the wood insert burning full blast, the furnace won't shut off in the house.

Spiked tires? if they kept the roads clean you could be like IA. It is not legal to use studs or chains on our Hwys, but then they do do a dam good job of keeping them cleared off. OK they do put a ton or two of salt on the roads so at -25 below zero they are still wet What can I say we are spoiled

They don't use salt here, they have started using some antifreeze liquid stuff in places, but thankfully not here in the desert. For some reason when the snow started on Sunday the plows didn't show up until Monday morning. Must have been the holiday, but you would think those guys would want the overtime. Oh well, it is what it is and the studs will stay. Someone has to keep the highway dept in business.

They are diligently trying to ban them from the Wet side of the state, or at least selling them there, but even with them they can't drive in the stuff. It does only get nasty a couple of times of year there, but everyone must still prove they think they know how to drive when it does come. GOOD PLACE TO STAY AWAY FROM.

Have you ever accidentally dropped a wrench and had it touch the terminals. I'll melt that bad boy quicker than all heck. Reason for that is that it can push 600 - 1000 amps, whereas your normal household current is only pushing 10, 15, max 30 amps on a garage circuit.
That's because the wire in your house is only about 10ga. Your posts on your battery are about 00ga. Also your house has circuit breakers. If you were to short a wrench across the cables coming into your house, there would be nothing left of the wrench. Also with a battery, all electrons are right there. With household the voltage is also a/c so voltage switches from +60volt to 0 to -60volt to 0 to +60volt 60 times per second. The more voltage you have, the more amps you can push through the same amount of resistance. V=I*R
