06 block heater

I have an 06 CTD and i get a block heater hooked up. Ive heard that they are factory installed and all u need to do is buy a cord. Is this true? IF so where is the factory one located on the engine. Have any of u done this and what did u all do.. Any help would be great.

Yup! It's already installed in the block, all you need is the cord.
Look under the bumper near the passenger headlight or behind the headlight assembly. It may be wrapped up under there.
If not, it'll cost you about $40 at the dealer or $20 on E-Bay.
The connection is right behind the oil filter. The easiest way to get to it is to remove the intake tube (2 screws) and then there is a black plastic cap right there near the oil filter. Unscrew the cap and plug in the cord.
That's it.

The diesel engine has the block heater located on the right side of the engine below the exhaust manifold next to the oil cooler (1). Part number for the cord is 5086737AB. Cost about $45.00 @ dealer. They no longer put the cord on the engine, but the heater is already on all diesels. See pic below, the heater has a black cap on it . Hope this helps
