Default check this out.

anyone with questions about the EGR system in the new trucks need to check out this vid. . .pretty slick, teardown of 2002 ISX w/581,000

the only thing I can see that would make a difference between this engine and the new 6.7L is the fact that the ISX stays on the road for long periods of time where as we have 50-100 mile hops.

Very Cool - but it makes one wonder what modifying the engine with aftermarket items does, since one of the reasons they tout such durability is that they control all the aspects of it running - aspects which the aftermarket items often change the function of...

another aspect of durability is when many of these engines are made they are so de-tuned they are barely working. the ISBe I believe can make upwards of 12-1500hp, but will only last a few minutes at full throttle at that level, however de-tune it to 325hp and thing thing will last forever.

yes, durability does go down as the power goes up, but at what level I'm unsure of.

Yup - that's basically what Cummins told me when I was talking to them about some of the horsepower/torque increasing add-ons - sure they said, it will increase the power - but you'll decrease the life. Although I have yet to keep any diesel-powered vehicle that long, I DO intend to keep those I now have a long, long time...
Those videos are really interesting - thanks for sharing! (I do have to chuckle when I see those pretty red engines with the chrome bolts - I was really disappointed when my ISL came with plain 'ol bolts instead of the fancy chrome ones all the pics show...)

I just wish they would have painted my 5.9 the same color as the ISX. That would look really nice when you pop the hood up.[8D]

Why is it that the red engines look so much more sexy? I have (crazy) friends that will paint theirs just to get the look...(hey, mine's not that dirty yet...could I possibly?)

Why paint your engine when you could by an international eagle 9900i for $180,000 that comes with the red ISX

those ISC's are freaking HUGE man. . .for only being a bit over a 2l coke bottle bigger they sure do throw in alot more meat.

I see the ISC's all day long here at work, we have alot of the old NA 250's. and believe it or not they run better than the P pumped turbo'd 247's
