help engine lite came on
Hi okay I have a 2004.5 ctd auto. with about 20,000 miles I went to work this eveing and it was 4 deg f. so i plugged in the truck at the hitchin post. well shortly after I left on my train the breaker on the hitching post blew.. when I came back into town. my truck was stone cold. it was -4 deg F now I jumped in the truck put it into N and cycled the heater twice and fired it up it took a little longer then normal to fire but she lit. it ran pretty rough but not bad, it was idleing at 1000 to 1100 so i cranked the heat up and ran back inside (to finish paperwork and stuff) I was inside 30min or so and I came back to my truck. it was still at high idle but the engine light was on. i drove a few miles still on.. It ran good. I then shut it off the restarted and the light stayed on. took a little ride about 20 miles get the truck up to temp. it ran good but why is my light on? how do I view the codes without scan tool?
any help would be nice I'm going to call dealer in AM. I'm still in warrintee..
thanks Dags

P2127 Pedal Position Validation Switch 2 Low
I wonder if it was thrown due to the high idleing for 30 min.
besides at that temp the engine runs off of 3 cylinders to get a little heat in the head, then opens the rest up. the rough idle was from this. . .it is absolutely normal and did scare the crap out of me the first time it happened to me.

wow thanks for the quick response. pedal position validation switch? okay thats weird.. I called the dealer they can fit me in tomorrow. I just hope it stays in the pcm until then. the rough idle didn't bother me I've started some big block cats and v-12 detroits in sub zero weather before. NOW THATS SCARY. CHUG CHUG CHUG. I almost went running out of the engine room the first time I started the detroit v-12.[sm=yikesomg.gif] I'll let you know what the stealer says

the dealer said it is faulty and will order a new one. they also tried to corner me on the out of park alarm. what other years have this? they said its mine only. I asked If I could see one with the alarm active. but they didn't have one. they had a 2004 ctd but it wasn't active on that one.. they said they would forget it this time but next time I come in I have to have it activiated or sign a waver. I don't like to sign anything..

RE: help engine lite came on
I just had mine come on yesterday. I had these two codes
P0071 - Inlet Air Temperature Sensor Rationality
P0514 - Battery Temperature Sensor Rationality
I dropped the truck off and they did the TSB 18-005-06B so far so good. I have a feeling the truck threw them because it was the one morning (that it was so cold) that I didnt plug in the truck.
Either way though, they did turn on my High idle feature. Pretty neat being able to bump up the idle while the truck is in park.
