If you go with an ATS Trans and Torque Converter, with a "Comander" lockup controller, you should not have any problems.

I pull a lot of trailers up and down mountians with my setup and have never had it "hunt" for a gear. I now have 12,000 miles on my ATS setup and all is well.

I think the amount of power your putting out has alot to do with it hunting for a gear... since doing the ATS intake & then adding the aero turbine, my setup almost never downshifts these days. I have to really be on it before it'll go down a gear.
