No go on the g56 trans, but I found a used 2002 nv5600 for $2850. Had 120,000 on the od. Wondering if I should go for it or not???

2800 bucks for a used transmission, used to the tune of 120k miles??? I have no clue about the price on such an item, but $2800 seems like an awful lot for a used transmission. Is that a fair price? I remember when I was a kid my dad and I scoured the junkyards for a used Subaru trans. Found one for like $100. What would a used 48re go for with 120k miles? Wow, had no idea a used trans could fetch that kind of money.

The nv5600 is hard to find, no new trans left. Drew my project was to replace the toasted 47re with a g56. I had one lined up but the deal fell through. A week later and I found this nv5600, the only one in this area that I am aware of besides dodge's price of over $6,000 for a rebuilt one.

I looked over at ATS and you can get a 47RE for a bit over $2500.

turned it down, I will keep looking for a g56. Not going with an auto because of the way they shift. Too many hills the auto like to "hunt" for gears.

I thought those ATS auto's were pretty damn good when coupled with their TC. You still think the auto would hunt a lot if you got an ATS?

that's what my fear is and I'd rather spend $6000 converting to a manual than $4000 on a built auto that still might hunt for gears. If a 6 speed hunts for gears, the driver is probably having a seizure
