Default Block heater. Is over night OK?

Is it safe to leave the block heater plugged in overnight? It's getting cold here and I am taking the truck to work in the morning.

thanks,

Steve

Thanks! I didn't think it would. I know they were fine in the late '80's and I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again,

Steve

Perfectly fine running all night, in fact many people do. Just keep in mind it pulls 600 watts. I put mine on a timer, so its on for 4 hours before I leave in the morning.

Has anyone confirmed this, or should I take the WATTS meter home?

Dumb question..... (from me). I have mine come on from 2-3am until 8am is when it shuts off. My friends truck when he comes out the gauge is above cold and ice stays melted off windshield. When I leave it in, my gauge is still pretty cold and ice... always! I am only 5' so scraping windows is not in my job description. TRuck fires right up about 10 seconds. Does anyone elses have better response in plugin?

And that stupid hole where the plug is is ridiculous. [:@] My hands barely fit and its hard to plug in and unplug! Cord looks great though.

this is correct, 6-700 watts.

DeAnne, I dont know what to say, one morning pop the hood and put your hand on the block and see if it is warm to the touch.

What hole are you talking about? My cord just comes out from under the grill ...
