Default Check Gauges Light

This would be different than the Check Engine light, what I'm asking about is the Check Gauges light.

For about the last 3 or so months every time I start my truck my Check Gauges light comes on and STAYS on for what seems like longer and longer each time. It eventually goes off so I wasn't real worried about it, but I AM curious as to why this happens anyway. I DO look at the gauges every time it comes on and they all look fine to me, so why this gauge light keeps comming on is somewhat of a mystery.

Anyone have any clues aor anything that I should be looking for?

This is what my dash looks like. It doesn't show the light lit, but it appears below the speedometer when it is lit.

What's your battery voltage for that time??? On really cold days my heater will drop the volts down below 12v sometimes and the check gauges light comes on.

I thought abut that Jake. I don't know what the voltage is, but the gauge does show it climbing after I start it up. Even after it goes into the safe zone, it stays on for a bit though so I kinda ruled that out. Do you think that is what it is? Is it something to worry about? Time for new batteries ya think?

as long as they keep cranking the truck over, I wouldn't worry about it. I have noticed that the light does stay on for sometime after the voltage goes up.

Yeah, they still crank it over so I really wasn't sweating it, but I was just curious as to why now? Meaing, I can't remember ever seeing it happen before and this isn't the first winter I've had the the truck, so why am I just now noticing it?

Maybe because I'm here I'm just more observant huh?

Hi guys this is my first post. I have an 06' 2500 Quadcab 4x4 CTD. It's only a month old and my check gauges light came on yesterday. My gauges look ok and functioning. One thing I noticed was the oil pressure was 40 at idle and @ 50 at higway speeds no matter what rpm or temp. I tried the key trick and got a P0514 code. My scan tool didn't find this and I'm having a hard time finding what this code is. Otherwise the truck is fine, getting decent mileage (only 2500 miles so far), and a blast to drive.[sm=lildevil.gif] p.s. this is my first diesel [sm=alcoholic.gif]

never mind found the code meaning- battery temp sensor/circuit performance/range. this something to worry about? Is it an easy fix? and no I'm not afraid to get dirty- when you cut the factory suspension mounts off the frame to do a 6" lift, there is no going back to stock!

The only time my check gauges light came on was when the alternator shorted out and blew the 130 amp fuse in the power distribution box. The voltage dropped to about 8v when it came on.
