I bought the engine. . .the truck just came with it
ME TO, but then liked the truck, on my second now and will never look back as I come from a long history 350 4 bolt mains and loved them untill they stopped and came with the 327 or what ever ( no insult intended )

sorry. i am just not familiar with dodges. dad says they're crap but i'm not like him at all.
A different way to look at this is if you changed the exhaust system on your dads truck/car so that it made a different sound at start up would that make it a piece of junk and or crap? Of course not so it its hard to understand why someone would think this about any vehicle. I think you should ask your dad this question and see what his answer is.

I'm startin to wonder if he means the starter sounds the same on the cummins as on the gassers. Cuz I notice that too. They obviously use the same starter motor on all the trucks. But other than that, NO comparison.....

Well at least you didn't ask, why does the CTD sound like it needs a tune up?

thanks steve. i just haven't been around dodges. parents are gm owners and have 2 fords at work. both diesels and ridden in them since i was little. yall must be dodge fanatics and if someone isn't you think he's the devil.[sm=badbadbad.gif]
fanatics yes... unlike some of the others who bought the motor & the truck came with it... I love the dodge rams 2nd & 3rd gen trucks, as well as the 2nd gen Daks. Having spent many nights in the engine compartment of my 2nd gen ram & also magnum 318 jeep grand cherokee, you kinda get to know the motors blind folded.

my suggestion is if you like the way they ride and the power they have, go for it, you know your going to rip off half the stock stuff anyway so it'll sound totally different when your done...

I think it’s more along the line that most of us have never heard of anyone who bases his or her decision about buying a truck or not with a CTD as you stated by the sound of how the engine sounds at start up. I think the way it was stated in your post it could lead some people to think that you may have been trying to stir up some **** as it does happen from time to time around here.
JMHO

Yea i gotta totaly agree with drew I love my dodges but I respect others opinions. Dan I think the reason you got the response you did is because I don't think anyone here has ever heard of not liking a truck or car for how it sounded when you start it. In fact i mean it's almost laughable to say something like that. If you were to post that anywhere on a chevy gm or ford forum I think you would get the same response. i could understand if you didn't like the looks or the sound while it is running down the road but for the 2 secs while it is starting????I meancome on man.
