the block heater runs off of standard house 110V and pulls around 700 watts of juice. the cord has an electrical outlet end you can plug to an extension cord. this keeps the engine warm for when the temps realy drop to aide in cold start and warm up.

Couldn't you also use a lamp on the ground pointed at the oil pan? I've heard of that being done back in the day.

ok...so where is the cord? or more like if there is no cord...do i just plug it in with an extention? where whould the outlet be at? somtimes i get on this forum and its like a class room...i learn stuff

You'll have to buy the heater cord from the stealer $$$$$$ or go to your local Cummins dealer and get it for around $12.00. One of the threads here
