Default Looking at 06 CTD 4x4

Couple of dealerships here in the Dallas area appear to have some good closeouts on '06 CTD QuadCab 4x4s. I've heard pretty much nothing but good things about the Cummins but seems I recall some problems with the auto trannys? Anything I need to be aware of/prepared for down the road on this pickup? I currently own a 2002 GMC Duramax 4x4 so you'll know what I'm "moving" out of. This will be my daily driver and occasionally pull a 20' car hauler. Thanks!

All trucks have their own set of problems. I spoke with our fleet manager about which truck he would buy. His reply was "I don't care what brand it is as long as it has the Cummins diesel in it"

even though the duramax uses the same fuel system our trucks use, I'm surprized at the failure rate of the injectors.

I believe the majority were on the '01 LB7 DMaxes. I've got almost 107k on mine and no problems. GM has warrantied the injectors to 200k. Just got back from driving the '06 and I was surprised when the salesguy said the warranty only went to 80k? The brochure on the '07s said it went to 100k. Is the salesguy wrong or did it change in '07? It rode better than I thought, although the back seats were nothing to write home about. The engine compartment is a lot easier to reach/see things. How difficult/expensive is it to install roof marker lamps on the CTDs? They're lowballing the heck out of me on my trade so now it'sa chessmatch!

YO ... are you effing with me ???

Seriously, if you're not happy with the deal your getting shop it around. I've heard that there area TON of Dodges out there going for some really good prices especially in Texas. You're on the right path, stick with the Dodge.

if you dont find something you dont like go to another dealership, or get them to do a search. the 5.9L engines are going quick and becomeing rare since 12/4/06 DC stopped installing the 5.9L.

if you dont like that particular dealership go to another that is close by. they may be willing to help you a bit more and give you a better quote on your chevy.

Today I saw where all 07 have a $3,000.00 rebate and all 06 have a rebate of $5500.00 from Dodge on top of any extra saving the dealership offers.
