I don't have access to anything to bend that 2 5/8" square tube. I am going to cut and chamfer the ends then weld it up.

I already have the 4 x 4 cut down

I think I can get away with 1/4" plate for the parts behind the hooks. It looks like 3/8" will bring the lower outside bolt heads too close to the lip on the bumper. Besides any commercially bought hitch is only going to have brackets at a max of 3/16 - 1/4" thick.

Yeah, 1/4 is fine, I just always go overkill on everything.

Usually when I weld stuff up the welds will be there long after the piece has rotted away.

While looking for the steel I had an idea about the mount.

Since I hate painting and you know how receivers like to rust, If I can find the correct sizes, I am going to make it out of STAINLESS

All this will have to wait until next week , too cold and Sat is the last day of goose season [sm=violent053.gif]

Well Damn! You're gonna get sexy with it. That's gonna be pricey.

Why not just get it powder coated?

I thought about powdercoating it but I don't know where to find a powdercoater around here.

Stainless was an idea, if the $ is way outta line I may have to search for a coater.

Any experience with the DIY powder coatings?

Ya could always Linex it.

I think I would just apply a good couple coats of primer and spray it. It's not like it's a high use item or one that you can't fix.
