Well the dealer replaced the pinon seal on the front axle. It took awhile because they could not find the p/n stamped on the axle. All should be good now.
Keep an ear out for any weird noises that you hear up front. If he did what I think he might have, he took the short cut.

What I mean is replacing the pinion seal is not as easy as just loosening up the pinion nut, pulling the yoke and driving a new seal.

To do it right, he needs to check the break away torque on the pinion nut when he removes it, do the above steps, and repattern the gears.

On most solid axle trucks, just pulling the yoke and replacing the seal is okay because the front axle is generally not turning all the time, but because the front axle on the Dodge's are alway turning, it needs to be patterned or you will put a huritng on those gears.

Might want to make sure they did it right.

49Lambert:
Your '06 with 60K miles should cover that seal under the 7/70 powertrain warranty. If the stealer gives you a hassle just call D/C customer service!

I wish. The 06 has a 3 year 36K mile warranty.
remember that there are NON PUBLISHED warranties the stealer and manufacturer never talk about. some companies actually warranty drive train past 3/36 floor warranty.....call and ask

calling local dodge stealer (have friend there)....the CUMMINS hasa great factory extended WARRANTY, but unfortunately not the pinion. it came with stock 3/36.....

make sure you did not get an extended.

you can also purchase extended since its only a year or so old......they dont cost much..dont mention any problems...
