Default Leak ?

I was looking over my truck today (just got back from a 1,000 mile trip getting ready to take a 600 mile trip) and noticed on the driver side front suspension looked like it was wet with oil. Took a closer look and it looked like the front left brake hoses might be leaking. Then noticed the front axle had some fluid that was about to drip. It was fairly thick clear liquid. I think it might be coming from were the front drive shaft goes into the front axle. Well I wiped every thing down and will keep an eye on it. The truck only has 5,000 miles on it, so I hope it's nothing major.

I'm not sure on terms but where the axles go in and connect with the ring gear and pinion assembly there are seals there not sure what the exact term is but that is most liekly the problem or the brake lines are leaking not a major fix for the axle seal just would be a lotin labor since the axel would need to be removed and the diff cover and such to replace the seal

Could be one of several things. I'm still trying to figure the area tha you are talking about though.

1 - You already said it, maybe a brake line.

2 - Axle tube. This would not be good because it means it's leaking from the inner axle seal. Oh what a pain.

3 - Pinion seal (where the d-shaft goes into the diff housing). Another pain in the butt. It's easy to just replace the seal, but todo it right means resetting your gears to get the correct pinion depth. Open the case, new crush sleave, retorque pinon nut, pattern, retorque, etc.

After watching the leak for awhile its not the brakes its the axle seal were the drive shaft goes into the axle. Good news is I called the service dept. at 4:30pm friday and got a monday appointment for 10am and they offered a loaner if needed. I will keep you posted.

i have the EXACT same problem! and we have the same truck, weird. i've been trying to diagnose this.

keep us updated on what it is exactly. definitely not the brakes, the fluid is too viscous, has to be gear oil. damn it.

just got done dealing with the damn dealer for my leaking back glass. now i have to take this in.

Could it possibly be the blow-by tube? Look right above the yoke and you'll see a tube. I thought my axle was leaking too and seen the liquid was coming from that tube. I have not figured out how to stop it yet

No the blow by tube is next to the oil pan and that oil is black, black, black. This fluid is fairly clear and thick. I checked several times its leaking at the axle.

Well the dealer replaced the pinon seal on the front axle. It took awhile because they could not find the p/n stamped on the axle. All should be good now.
