Default quick exhaust ?

i have a 06 diesel. im wanting to change the exhaust. I am definitely going to ditch the cat. but was just wondering if i should buy a complete exhaust system (like the mbrp turbo back system). or just buy a new muffler, keep all my stock pipe, and weld a piece in where the cat is.

im looking for a good sound and still keep some back pressure.

06 comes with 4" exhuast, so I would just get a muffler and a piece of pipe and a tip.

4040 aero turbine, no cat feeding a 30" magnaflow, the rest is stock. like it alot, the only other thing it could use is a tip.

why do you run a 4040 aero and a muffler? isnt the 4040 aero a muffler?

well, it started as a cat delete and mag install... ran that setup for about 6 months. lost some low end torque with it and mileage right along with it. the research I did showed me that that aero by itself might be too loud. I need my truck available for business from time to time and overly loud would not be good. so the aero in front of the mag would keep things relatively tame. the goal of putting the 4040 in there was to bring back some low end torque lost with just the mag in there. it worked out awesome for what I need. decent low end torque, very free flowing setup.

is the magnaflow an open muffler like the mbrp? do you think the mbrp with the aero would be a better selection? where did you buy your aero and magna?

the mag is a straight thru design. 0 backpressure, helps get the turbo spooled quickly and allows the motor to breath better when combined with a good CAI setup.

Magnaflow Stainless 5" turbo-back with dual 4" outlets after the muffler. My truck had a Chevy gasser muffler (bought used from a Chevy dealer) and 3.5" piping. It's quieter now with the 5" because it was built for the engine (still sounds great). Bought IT on Ebay.

Many will dispute this, - I have recently installed a muffler delete pipe from RPM., $43.00?, I kept the kitty and love the sound, couple of guys mention a loss of low end , but I hardly haul on a regular basis, so no biggie to me - have not noticed any loss myself.
Best mod bang for the buck yet. - Not that I have many but it sure sounds great, if you don't like it you don't have the bank invested and could then go for the Aero.
