I got Sirius in my wife's 06 Jeep Commander. It is useless. Maybe this is a rural problem, maybe I live too far out in the sticks, but the damn thing never gets reception for more than 20 seconds without interruptions that can last for up to a minute. It is very irritating to listen to. The content would be great if I could hear it uninterrupted.

And the part about commercial-free? That is bogus. There are commercials almost as often as on regular radio. I wouldn't pay money for this crap.

As everyone here likes to say, just my opinion...

Sirius is the way to go.

Came in the new truck and havnt turned to regular radio since. Put one in the wifes jeep and gave 3 this year for Christmas.

Comedy, Sports,Nascar, tunes, on long trips it really makes a diff.

Bummer the Stones channel went away today though.

Only a few of the music channels have commercials. Mostly the recent pop ones. The large majority of genre specific channels are commercial free. You can go to XM or Sirius website if you dont have one of their brochures and see what channels have commercials and what ones dont. Also the talk radio channels, obviously, have commercials.

I have XM and love it. I got rid of haveing to change channels by adding a stereo with auxillary input and hooking the XM through the aux. in. Much better clarity and no more channel fumbling. WOW

They both have plenty of commercials, but I still haven’t listed to terrestrial radio in almost two years and I don’t miss it a bit.

Ihave sirius and did not lose my signal one time on a recent trip through the appalachian and blue ridge mountains. Round trip was over 700 miles, so i think that is pretty good. Therefore, my vote goes to sirius.

Sirius uses a "geo synchronous" orbit that has three satellites. They are putting up a 4th satellite that will be "geo stationary" (remians in the same spot in orbit it'sentire life).

Both of XM's satellites are geo stationary and are located south of the us. Here is what they look like in their respective orbits.

Good luck with our rides.
