Default extra plug??

i noticed today on my truck on the drivers side way up front near the intercooler there is a plug. its plugged into something that is connected to nothing so im guessing its a holder of some sort. there are 2 metal prongs inside the holder and obv. 2 slots for them in the plug. i followed the wires and it goes to the fog lights and everything else is hooked up. what is this plug for??

Driver's side??

Sounds like the ambient air temp sensor to me. The thermoresistor changes the output voltage as the temp changes. I know it's spliced into the same cable assembly as the fogs.

If you disconnect it, I think you'll get all dashes on the overhead console in the cab.
