Default Remove the Cat on 07 CTD

Ok here is a good question ( at least I think it is) I have installed an AFE intake and a CAT back dual exhaust, as well as a Pac Brake, and I feel that my EGT'S ( Pre Turbo ) are way to high at quite often 11 - 12 hundred and this is with having a minimal trailer weight of around 5000pounds.
The main reason that I got this truck ( Dually ) is to pull ( our new Toy Hauler trailer ) and it has a tounge weight of 1200 pounds and an over all weight of 12000 pounds.
My concern is that when pulling the heaveir trailer that may EGT'S will be that high all the time or possibly higher.
SO now my question , if I replace the CAT with the AREO 4040 will it lower my EGT'S enough to make a noticable differance ??
Thanks for you help

Ralph

I think you're going to need to look into other methods to lower your egt's but, removing the cat does help.
I noticed almost 100 degrees lower temps after removing mine. If you already have a cat back, there really wouldn't be any need for the Aero exhaust. As long as you leave the muffler on the sound doesn't increase.

Other will know much more on how to decrease the egt's.... I do know a bigger turbo will probably be needed for your towing.

Wonder if all of that EPA garbage and ULSD has anything to do with the higher EGT's?

I don't think he or anyone has purchased the new 6.7L. That's a good question though.... I suppose we'll be hearing about them soon.

yes it'll help, if you swap in the 4040 you wont loose to much low end, combined with your AFE, it should go down for sure.
