another thing to point out is those tires are 15 lbs lighter than what I have, so your mileage dip may not be that bad...

Here is the best picture i have of mine with 33/12.50-17 AT's. Steve, that is a good question about the balancing and heavy loads/towing. You may be on to something. I may give some thought to going with the X AT's to get the E rating.

Yes they do stick out a little. I think flares like yours would cover them perfectly, but i kind of like the look of the tires sticking out. My steps keep most of the debris off of the doors, but i occasionally throw a little dirt up on the hood when leaving a job site.
