Default Kalifornia emissions?

Looking at the printout on my new truck (2006 3500 quad cab) I noticed that "California emissions" is listed. I'm not in the evil empire, but close enough that their effects spills across the border. (Like a bad fungus....).

The question is, what makes up the "California emissions"? Does it have a negative impact on performance and mileage? (Probably). If so, what can I do to get rid of it?

Thanks, Sam

catalytic converter is all. . .this was the one thing added to the 04.5 and up trucks to make them CARB "Legal"

I'm on the east coast and their "effects" make it all the way out here.

it doesnt hurt mileage or performance, but depending on your emissions laws, you can ditch it and get the normal diesel exhaust smell back

IIRC all 2006's are 50 state compliant (ie they all meet[sm=bomb.gif] the CA Clean air what ever crap, they just don't have a sticker on the window saying so) so you should not have any extra crap on your engine to worry about nor need to take off.
