Steering Slop
I have a bunch of play in the steering (4 to 6 inches). It just came out of no where. Friday it was good, saturday it has tons of slop in it. I have put 4 steering gear boxes on my truck the last one was 6 months ago and it has about 20k on it. When I put the last steering gear box on, I put on a steering stabilizer from PSC Motorsports and a new pitman arm and the ball joint that attaches to the pitman arm. The trac arm is good and so are the ball joints. They were replaced all at the same time with moog parts. It seems to be in the gear box yet again. I have tried a replacement mopar, and the rest came from the local auotparts store and they all seem to be crap. Has any had any luck at all with a good aftermarket steering box on a 2001 CTD,4x4, six speed?
I am really fed up with it. Other than the linkage that goes from the steering wheel to the gear box, the whole front end has been replaced on this truck. If you disconnect the linkage from the grearbox and turn the wheel, there is no play. The problem is from the gear box on out to the tires.
