tried 2 stroke in the fuel...
but the 2s lubricates for mmo when it's used instead, corect? Sorry, i'm new to this and actually dont have a cummins yet, asap i will have one though. My goal is enough torque to snap a civic in half
I've found out that in my truck with the cold weather and winter fuel if I use 1 qt of 2-cycle oil with 10 oz of PS my mpg went down 2.5 mpg. So I now mix 1 gal of 2 cycle oil to 1 gal of winter PS and use 16 oz per tank and my mpg went back up to where it was with 8 oz MMO and 10-12oz of PS. I know some say they can use a full qt of 2 cycle oil and no PS and not lose any mpg. But come spring I'll try a mix of 1 gal of 2-cycle oil to 3 qt’s of PS and then use 16oz per tank and see what my mpg does and then I'll try 1 gal 2 cycle to 1/2 gal of PS. What’s nice is that Super Tech 2-cycle oil at Wall Mart is cheaper then MMO so that’s nice to be able to save a few extra pennies on the brew.
I am still a noob when it comes to the diesels. SInce I bought my 2004, I have been running the usual brew of 16oz PS and 8oz MMO...I suppose this is a really bad time of year to try and see how the mileage really is huh? I have filled the tank up twice since owning the truck, both times i have run the brew and I seem to hover around 15mpg in city (according to the overhead). I was hoping to take it on a long haul for highway mpg but have not had that chance yet. Please keep us informed on whether swapping MMO for 2s makes any differance especially when mpg are concerned. So far it looks like I am getting about the same mileage out of a 34gallon diesel that I was from my 2000 5.9 gasser with a 26 gallon tank.
aceracer24only filled it up twice, so you only owned the truck 2 weeks huh, If your only getting 15 empty, you might need to load it down and put a few hours of heavy use on it to get the temps up and burn off some carbon.
I bought my 2005 with 26000 on it and the first few days I was driving it around town,I was getting about that kind of fuel mileage empty, then I went to work pulling a 16 foot enclosed trailer with four thousand pounds in it and the wind drag and put a quick 5000 on it the first month and I went to getting 16.5 on the overhead pulling the trailer at speed and 19 or 20 empty no trailer.
I haven't went a whole tank without the trailer so I'm running 14.5 in my fuel log book, overhead off about 2 mpg highfor me.
But 14.5 is a whole lot better than the gas one would do, my brother with the hemi ram is getting 14 running empty.

Yep, only had it for a couple weeks now. I love it but expected better MPG then what I am getting lol. Seems of course winter is a bad time of year for diesels. I have heard from several people that the cummins needs to be worked hard every now and then but unfortunatly, I don't have a trailer and don't have anything else i can use to load down the truck. I purchased 6 sand bags from home depot (60lbs each) and tossed them over the rear axle for some traction in the winter but i seriously doubt that is even close to the amount of weight I really need. It's unusually cold this time of year and am hoping it warms up so I can use the grey bottle of Diesel Kleen which i heard should give better MPG then the white bottle i am currently using. Thanks for the input btw!
BTW, the truck has 85000 miles on it so I know she is broke in really well by now.

Non synthetic 2 stroke oil is typically castor oil based and is a very good lubricant(and smells good too). I can't wait to try this in my truck. Maybe(but doubt it, haha) it'll smell as good as my KTM 300, although I am currently using a synthetic/castor blend(Klotz R50 = $$) in the KTM, I would look for a full castor based oil for use in the diesel.
I had also heard that adding regular vegetable oil helps quite a bit with lubricity. Anyone have any input on this?

Here's what I know, I bought my truck with just over 95,000 on it in Sep.
1sttank was no additives and got a little over 15 mpg
2nd tank had 1qt ps white bottle and got a little over 15mpg
3rd tank 1qtPS 1/2qtMMo and again 15.56
4th tank1/2qtPS, 1/2qtMMO and 8oz 2 cycle and got a little over 15mpg
5th tank same additives and got 16.06
6th tank sameagain and got 14.75
I just changed the oil and filter, plus fuel filter and put in1/2qt Lucas fuel additive with 1/2qt 2 cycle. I know it's winter so I'll be objective
Yes this batch has seem to make it less noisy, WHICH is a change....
