a new guy in my FD last night decided to start talking to me about his truck. 05 hemi flowmaster muffler w/ dual outs stock cat and hooker shorty headers, k&n air filter, and super chip with 22 different settings. he claims when he puts the chip on a certain setting he gets 27 mpg on the highway. and a week after he got the truck (before all the mods) he could burn all 4 tires on dry tar by just mashing his foot to the floor. claims hes pushin 485hp at the rear wheels (but i asked if hes ever had it dynoed and he said no). he also claims he was on the highway and rolled up next to a "brand new wrx sti" and they raced and he smoked the sti from the highway roll and in top speed. how rediculous is this?!?!?! lol it was quite the amusing converstaion i had with him

i just went along with the story to let him have his glory of the "badass" hemi

 

The hemi engine in its own respect isn't bad but the people that own them are totally misinformed. They don't realize that Hp is a meaningless number. Torque is what makes hp and torque is what you need. I wouldn't listen to him he's just an idiot

 

Shoulda just said, "Damn that's pretty sweet. Let's go to lunch.........I'll drive."

And commence to laying the diesel smack down.

 

That IS an entertaining story....27 mpg huh. wow.

 

Hookup a cable between both trucks and show him who has more power.

 

amazing howa few ponies under the hood make everyone 10 feet tall and bullet proof. i was there once with my '03 ram hemi. I saw the light and went towards it and will never look back.

all my friends that have trucks...1989 2500gmc gasser...2006 hemi...and so on...all say my truck is ***** and ill i hafta say is hook up the chain but none of them will...im willing as long as someone else will.

at the most he's pushing 360 at the rear with the mods he has. and the over head may be saying 27mpg, but put the calculator to it and I bet it is MUCH less.

now, burning the front tires, he11, I did it when my buddy got his mustang GT and thought it was fast. he gave up REAL quick when I lit the front tires off the line. the hemi burning up the front tires off the line. . .I doubt it, it doesnt have enough a$$ down low unless he was stoopid enough to put it into 4lo and race the truck.

 

Tell him to put his money where his mouth is.
If a local track had open racing, ask him to run you and see if its all he thinks it is.
Or put the trucks on a dyno.
