The shop I go to does a fantastic service to me and my friends. I think it is a cheap filter and shell oil 15-40. Summer it runs ok but winter- would never do it. This oil leak is from an oil change we did ourselves a few months back. I'm hoping its just the cold weather. Taking it into the shop this weekend when I get my $$. Gonna try me some bio........Been busy all day- still at work- will check the oil in a few- can't get dirty- work in a office....

Also,
You might want to check to make sure that you dod not have 2 filter gaskets/ orings in there from the last oil change.... Made that mistake years ago in high school, what a mess. If you do have 2 stacked one on top of the other you will not make a good seal and it will leak. Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it this weekend. Sad thing is its gonna snow and my bertha don't fit in the garage. I'll get er' done! Seems to have slowed down on the leak I think. The hissing noise is my new in-tank fuel pump the dealer installed. Good or bad? I don't know. It does quiet down eventually though. I know we have gone through this before but what oil and brand should I use? Its cold outside. Actually I will try and get a poll going on the types of lubes and oil peeps use. Sorry if it fails or if its been done before!

IIRC you can use 10w30 in the winter time. Do you have the owners manual if so check to see what they list for winter time use.On the newer engines they tell us to use 5w40 synthetic in the winter time if the temps get at or below zero.

As for oil brand your its your choice, but here are a few to chose from: Delo 400, Shell Rotella, Mobile Delvac, Premium Blue

Filled my oil back up the other night with the Delo 400 15-40. Never go back to a gasser- but it was a little simpler- I knew how to work on them.......

NAPA has the Gold series filters. They are made by Wix. Can't remember the price off hand, but was very reasonable.

I'd stay away from the little orange cans of death.

A couple of things that you're saying are kind of concerning.

1 - You said it's making more / different noises than previously

2 - The leak

3 - You have higher than normal oil pressure.

This, to me, might indicate a blockage somewhere.
But the little orange filters now come with grippy stuff on the top! He he

That's so you have something to grab onto after they are covered in oil when they rupture.

Wally World- Here I come! After you change your oil- how many of you just buy a new oil catcher container? I do. Just tell the parts stores to keep it. They should have them for rent since you can dump the oil at the parts stores to. Half the time it sits in the storage container on the side of your house till next year. LOL. Guess thats what makes the oil change seem so expensive.
