Default dimming dome light question

I have a 2006 ram 4X4 with cummins, aprox. 2600 miles and my question is regarding my voltage drain at start up. After a cold start at least 4 or 5 times, the dome lights dim and the voltage drops to 7-9 and then jumps back up to 14, and the cycle repeats about 4 or 5 times. Once running 5 or 6 mins, this is not a prob. I'm sorry because I am new to the truck scene, but I hope this isnt another warranty issue such as a weak alternator. Anyone had a similiar experience or just me,,thanks.

that is perfectly normal. it is your grid heater kicking on and off until your engine gets warmed up.

Thanks for the info,, that is a relief. I was reading about the new 6.7 cummins and the cat actually has a self cleaning function that burns out excess deposits up to 1000 degrees, but again mine is a 5.9 so I knew it was something else.
