Mods for 91 CTD Help please

What would be the best Mods for a little more power out of my 91 CTD with auto? Don't want to go crazy because of the weak auto. Is there a better trans I could swap out for the 727?

I'm pretty sure a 47RH would mate up nicely. there are not too many guides on turning up the juice on the VE pump, it can be done but is rather touchy.
