Probably just in your head. Rotella is a good choice, I run delo 400 15w/40 (shop stocks it). I've ran both but prefer the delo 400.

Ive been using Rotella myself for years and have had good luck. You can spend as much as you want on oil and additives, but in the long run from my experience with diesels the main thing is to service regular no matter what brand you choose. All the guys I pull with use their trucks for their living, and dont go for the high price oil. and most of us put a few hundred thousand miles on them, before we trade them in, and then wonder why in the heck did I get rid of it. The power loss is in your head. Break that mug in and enjoy your new ride.

Yep, I've been using rotella for years. It's stinky, but it works.

We have used Rotella T 15W40 in our equipment for years with no problems. I am running Rotella T 15W40 in my 2005 Ram 3500, Laramie for this reason, it has been tried and proven. I am actually going to change over to synthetic Rotella 5W40 Synthetic next oil change.

Your choice for dino oil is, Valvoline Cummins Blue, Chevron Delo 400, and Shell Rotella. Then you have hydro cracked dino synthetics like, Mobile 1, Rotella and Mobile Delvac, Cummins Blue Extreme and also I’m told Royal Purple. On the top of the line synthetics your choice is Redline & Amsoil.

You don’t list what year your truck is but I know on the 06 CTD you can use 5w40 synthetic year round and not just in the wintertime. Now on the older engines I do believe you can use 10w30 in the winter but check the owners manual to be sure of the correct grade to use.
