Some people remove the plate to get even more power from these trucks it should have more power without the plate at all than when u put the #8 plate in from what ive heard romving the plate doesnt hurt anything but when u put that #8 in u probably lost alot of power.

I dont know about fuel economy but i ground down my plate to a #00 and i have no egt problems at all the maximum i get to is around 1100 but thats also with the turbo putting out 33lbs. of boost... i figured that it was just as simple to grind the metal off and have the plate in there to be safe since it doesnt cost anything in the first place. but IMO id put a plate in it to be on the safe side of things.

Heres more pump and plate info; http://www.cumminsdatabase.com/read.php?id=58
Theres a pin inside that will wear and break when running plateless, big $$$.
The plate only contacts the governer arm at wide open throttle, so fuel economy is not affected, unless you're lead footed.

Fellow Newbie,
I have a 1995 3500 that has a new Reviva engine in it. I gave the old 1995 2500 to my Boy, I needed an extended cab.
I only pull a trailer with my truck, otherwise it sits idle. It appears to be stock, right down to the mufflers (YUK) and cat (double YUK).
I too just started the process of updating my engine to produce more power/torque. Any and all information you aquire would be appreciated. I too will share what I learn. The forum is a great place to start.
I was hoping to take my rig to the dyno and get a baseline before adding anything to the Beast.
Thanks,
Tony
