RUN IT WITH OR WITH OUT THE PLATE?
i just bought a #8 fuel plate for my 96 when i pulled the fuel pump apart it didnt even have a stock plate i was just told thatyou get the most power with out any plate at all, is this true, what about fuel ecomomy, and exhaust temps, would it be better with or without the plate?
Well, if it is on the 12V engines I guess i wont need to worry about it. My '01 was totalled on the 30th on my way back from Phoenix and after we get moved there on the 27th of this month I will start looking for a replacement. Have my eye on an '04, quad cab, 2500 w/ the HO engine. Has 45K on the meter but they are only asking $20K. Either that or an '04 out in Kansas.
Wow, no plate at all?!?!? Im not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. The way the plate works is the little hook lookin thing in the pump at diff rpm/boost levels engages the plate at diff heights to meter the fuel for that specific situaton. Yuo can move the plate backwards and forwards to tune your power curve as well as turn the fuel tune screw under the 8mm hex cap on top of the pump. You might call and talk to the guys at ats diesel or even BD diesel to see what they have to say. They are both very reputable and knowledgable companies that should be able to give you an accurate answer.
