Default EGT Probe Location

The shop that installed my Edge - Attitude installed the EGT probe in the turbine outlet pipe. I am most likely going to have them relocate it into the exhaust manifold just because we had a discussion when I purchased the system on where the probe would be installed and exactly how I wanted the hole drilled and tapped. I am curious to know how much of a difference it actually makes.

I average about 500 F cruising @ 70MPH unloaded

What is normal?

If I remember correctly, I am at about 600-700 when cruising at 70 on flat road. I have my probe mounted in the manifold between cylinders 3 and 4.

IV got mine mounted in the same place as the previous poster and consistantly show 6-700 on the freeway without any load.

I had the probe moved to the exhaust maninfold now it reads 600-700 while cruising 70. It reads about 300 idleing.

IIRC the closer you put the probe to #6 on the exhaust manifold the hotter it will read as #6 is said to be the hotest cylinder we have in the engine. Many like to install it in between #4 & #5 do to its ease and yet it picks up the heat of #6.
