mmmm.... i think u would need the whole drive terain(spelling jus woke up) , and calculate the the frame wouldwithstand that heavy *** engine and the suspension would need to hold and um oh yea also hold the hp/tq.
to much work and money
buy a new one.

The engine is about 400 lbs heavier and the trans is about 100 heavier.
Considering that we are running 11 1/2" rears and I have a buddy that has twisted the axles shafts under some fairly mild mods, I would say that 8 1/4 will be toast.
Like anything, it could be done, but you are gonna be in for a HUGE task.
Swaps like this are better done with a truck that already has stout components, like a 3/4 or 1 ton gasser, or a Cummins into Super Duty swap, etc.
Stuffing an 1100 lb engine and a 400 lb tranny into a 1/2 ton truck damn near puts it at GVWR.
