Default 48re tranny question

I am a new diesel owner (first one) and have a tranny question. What's up with not letting the the truck sit in park with a 48re tranny? And if you do, what can happen?

How good is this tranny anyway, and how do I get a long life out of it.

Default RE: 48re tranny question

Welcome to DF firefly!

1 - The tranny is fine if the truck isn't all mod'd to hell. Once you start adding more than 70 hp or so, you are gonna push the TC beyond what itis capable of.

2 - The only thing that is bad with idling in park is that the pump isn't supplying fluid to the TC. If you are gonna idle for long periods of time you should put the truck in N and set the parking brake. This supplies fluid and helps warm it up when it's cold and cools it off when hot.

3 - Enjoy the truck.

See you around.
