Default Waste gate?

Stock 2006....So tonight I was getting on the skinny pedal a lot more than usual. During one stretch I noticed something. I heard the turbo spool up and it seemed as though it topped out and then it (turbo noise, that whistle/airy sound) started to "pulse." Didn't notice a drop in power or anything. Was I just experiencing the effects of the waste-gate opening/closing? As in, I reached maximum boost and the waste-gate was opening and closing to control it? Kinda hard to describe, just let me know if i need to try and describe it more. TIA

Wastegate is probably what you hear. The gate will open and close to maintain the amount of boost it's set for. Turbochargers are also pulse driven when it comes to our trucks. There's no steady flow of exhaust that spins the turbo. Just pulses of exhaust gas from each cylinderthat drives the turbine.

Good luck with your ride.

That's all it was. No big deal.

Stock, with no box or programmer, it tops out at about 24-26 PSI before the wastegate opens.

It'll pulse pretty good if your on it hard from a stop, loaded and going up a hill. Then it evens out.

Leave it alone ... it'll grow

If you play with it too much you'll break it.

It's hysterical though. He puts a lot of effort into it. I have to respect a man who goes for the laugh. I'm all about humor. The dumbest **** makes me laugh.

Mayfair makes me jiggle sometimes. Like J-E-L-L-O.....

Adios my friends....
