Same here, I only go to the dealer on VERY rare occ. when there is no option. Of course a lot of people don't have the tools, or know-how, to keep their trucks up properly, beyond normal oil change, and filter change "stuff". I have a guy living accros the street that has 2 screw drivers, a pair of pliers and a small adj. wrench, and has to call me, or one of his kids, when he needs to use them.

I have a 06 and my horn doesn't honk while in reverse. I tried with and without the seat belt on. I did deactivated my seatbelt light/chime like the owners manual explains. Has anyone tried to deactivate to light and see if the horn still honks?

Edit: I'll try it one more time tonight to confirm it.

From what I understand, the 06's use the seatbelt sensor (not sure whether instead of door, or in addition). The 06's have it installed from the factory, not as a recall. It's the 03-05's that are at issue with the recall (although it's still potentially a problem on the 06's).

I tried mine again today and if I unhook my seatbelt and take my foot off the brake and the door is open it will hook . Now if I fasten my seatbealt it will not honk with the door open and my foot off the brake. So I guess it being installed at the factory makes a difference as some say it honks with or with out the seatbelt on if installed on the older trucks or so I've been told anyway.

There is a post on another forum dated 2/18 with pics showing a fix for this problem.

I dont know if its proper "Forum Edicate" to talk about or name other sites. so I wont until prompted.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, that fix only works on the 06s, not on the 03-05s. The factory version of the alarm in the 06s includes the seatbelt sensor, so bypassing it will bypass the alarm. The recall version for the 03-05s does not include the seatbelt sensor in the mix.

Two questions:

1. Does this go off when you are moving in reverse with the door open?

2. If so, why are you backing up with the door open and not using your mirrors?

I tow my trailers at least 2 to 3 times a week and hook up and unhook each time. I have never had to open the door to look back while in reverse to do so.
