Default HO diesel

My dad want to get a rear cover for his 2004 diesel ram, but the guy asked him if he has a HO diesel. My dad doesn't think so, but he isn't sure. Is it written on the valve cover or something?

How can he figire it out?

I think it has to be the 325 horse motor to be an HO, it will list it on the drivers side of the plastic valve cover, the HO are listed as 2004.5 model years.

not fully. . .on the HPCR engines (03 and up) if you look at the white label near the back of the plastic cover for the valve cover it will list some specifics of the engine. one of the numbers will be advertized HP. if it says 325 is it an 04.5 '600' engine. if it says 305 it is an 04 HO, 285(I think) is the SO

Best I can tell is it comes from the combination of the B Series Cummins engine with the Interact (TM) System or ISB for short. So your electronically controlled 24 valve Cummins engines are known as ISB while the 12 valve mechanicals are B Series.
