Salute!
Gurus got one for ya ... got 3 2005 3500QC up here that seem to be running like they'er gassers with a mild race cam in em... the sound is akin to race cams rumble rumble don't see any bumps in the tachs one of em sounds worse then the other two... it has around 50k miles the next sounds not as bad about 45k miles on it. Niether of these have any after market accessories on em. mine with about 40k miles is just starting to rumble, I thought mine might be due to the predator chip so I pulled it, seems to have quieted down some. The first truck has beeen to the stealership....(and we all know how that went..... "sounds normal" ) dumb asses never even checked anything according to owner!?

Any ideas? Winter fuel/bad fuel? Fuel pump!?The guy runnin the 05 ohno did do a defuel (truck that is) he added some conditioner and has had no problems since!

Probably need to load them up a bit. Get the egt's high to help clean the injectors.

Well!... since I'm still stuck out here the bush fretting about that rumble.. one of my co-workers got his days off and took his 05 QC into the shop for same reason... turns out the rumble isn't bad fuel/injectors but is a "valve lash" problem!!? Buddy faxed me his work order so I have something to go with when I get back home,( WO: 0952 DIESEL VALVE LASH ADJUSTMENT) 94250 COMPLETEDIESEL VALVE ADJUSTMENT INT 0.008 EXH 0.010Talked to him today and he says his truck is running like new and his mileage and power has come back!! His truck had60k miles on it the other guy has 55k miles, mine has close to 45k miles, seems very unlikely all 3 trucks would have the same problem at the same time!??
I said previous mine isn't as bad as the other two trucks dunno if its due to the chip & rokk sensor or more likely because of the lower mileage? I will post results of my service when I get home.

Just saw bert0168 TSB post looks like I might have the stealer look at TSB 14-003-06 "engine surges at idle" Thanks bert0168 for the extra info

I'm not saying that you don't have an issue, but be careful when you start looking through TSB's. Problems seem to create themselves when folks start doing this. It's funny how you could have nothing wrong, but as soon as we look at TSB's we start thinking, "Hey maybe mines doing that?"

Just my advice after owning a few, AHHHHHK.....SPIT........, Fords.

another thing you need to watch out for is too much timeing. . .since you have the rokk tek sensor the programmer wont see it and might give you too much and cause some issues.

Ah but I do have something wrong (I hear what yer sayin) I do have a rough idle with a little more smoke then usual and have lost power and mileage. I have tried PSD and have been able to run it hard but, to no avail. Until I can get outta da bush and to a stealer, I will continue to look at different solutions or ask the gurus here for any ideas. This bulletin does speak of a rough idle which may be caused by either too low a fuel pressure or too high a fuel pressure along with a noticable knock/ping. I don't have any means for measuring my fuel pressure at this time. But this time home looks like I'll be busy installing some guages!

I have removed the predator chip and the rokk techwhich both add timing and I still have the rough idle issue along with the lost power/mileage. I don't believe that either of these caused the problem as my fellow co-workers are both bare bones stock trucks (both are 05 with no aftermarket goodies) and their trucks are running a lot rougher then mine!! Like I said earlier mine isn't running as bad as theirs probabully due to the fact I had the Rokk and predator chip installed (I have takenboth off and still Ihave noticed my truck isslowly getting worse) I'll know for sure come March 7 when she hits the shop!

Well!!! I finally convinced the stealership and the glorified puter jockeys (techs lmao) that their puter won't show bad injectors!!(still can't figure out why they couldn't hear the miss she had and the tell tail knock??) Shes headed to the shop this Friday for a injector swap!!! I get to be there as well got me borescope with me to look at the cylinders, just wanna make sure all of the injectors coming out are intact!! Got 6 of em tagged with me name on em . Seems they (stealership) havegotat least one smart cookie workin for em ... he called it a "runaway" ..bad injectors... Now me fellow 2005 3500 QC co-workers can get their rigs in for their swaps. Its been a long haul having to put up with a lack of power, mileage and the "rumble".. now that the snow is melting away I can see the blacktop which is... come this weekend is gonna get a whole lot DARKER [8D]!!!!

One more thing .. weekend is gonna be busy my road armor bumpers (yup bumpers ordered base front .."wanna build me own brush guard" and a rear bumper) are in, so the rusting chrome is being replaced with powered coated black ..soon to be covered with that "box liner stuff" after I get guard built. I just spend too much time on gravel roads paint/chrome just never lasts.
