Default Spare tire

I've starting doing some research regarding upgrading my rims and tires. I do want to go a little bigger on the tires than the Michelins that came stock, but I want to still carry a spare in the stock location. Anyone know what the max diameter is for the stock spare hanger?

I'd have to look at mine again (I last looked back in Oct) but I don't recall there really being any extra room for a bigger tire, but I could be wrong.

I figure that I can at least go up to the 265/70s that I believe were optional, wasn't sure about anything beyond that. I'm not really fond of the spare in the bed method, but if I have to, I guess I can.

Yes 265/70/17 came stock on my 06 and I also think you could put a 265/60/17 under it and be OK its the bigger diameter that I'm not sure will fit under the truck.

Mine came with the 245/70s. 42k on them and they still have probably 50-60% tread left. But man, these things get no traction in the snow or off road.
So, i figure if I'm wanting sometime this year to get something for better traction I might as well go up a size or three

Figured fitting anything too much under the bed was a long short, but never hurts to ask.

I was able to fit a 305 65 R17 if that helps.

I have a 285 70R 17 for my spare. Still room to go up atleast one more size. Possibly two sizes.

That's one thing I never did and I hope I don't regret. I never put a newer / bigger spare tire under there. Right now I'm running the 17" 265's, and my spare is the old 16" 245. I guess it's kinda like having a doughnut spare.
