Default Pulling the trigger tomorrow...Help!

Here's the situation.....kind of a math problem.....I have a 2006 2500 diesel with 285/70/17 BFG A/T now, they measure 32 inch diam. I have 3 1/2 inches left to get in the garage.

I want to put on 35'x 12.5 17 Dick Cepek F-C II A/T with the Dick Cepek DC 1 Rims in 17x9 -12mm.

I am thinking and was told I will probably need a 2 inch leveling kit to do it without rubbing. True/False?

If I put the tires and level kit on, will I clear the garage? Add 1 1/2 inch height for tire and 1 1/2 hieght to cab for leveling......1/2 inch to spare, right????

Will I still fit in the garage?
How do the DC tires run?
How many miles on tire?
How do they handle snow and ice?
What's change in MPG?
Good tires and rims?
Gear ratio still ok?
Any other comments?

Pics would be nice if anyone has them.

Thanks for listening and feedback is most appreciated.

Rob

I have a 2004 3500 with 35's and they ruub on a full turn when going over a bump such as a driveway and thats with a 2 inch leveling kit. So basically, yes you can run 35's with only a leveling kit, no I would not guess you will clear the garage but without actually trying it, you may never know. I certainly wouldn't try it with only having .5 inches to spare but thats me and i park outside anyway. My truck will fit as far as top to bottom but it's to long

A 1/2" is cutting it a little too close.
Think you just got home from a long hard drive on a hot sumer afternoon yourtires are hot and the air in them has expanded and your fuel tank is empty, you don't have that 1/2" any more. (hellow body shop)

Done deal. Got some helo wheels and DCepek FC tires in a 35 12.5 17. Had to do the level kit and they fit w/ no rub. Really only lifted the cab and shell another 1 - 1 1/2 inches. I still have 1-2 inches of clearance. Here's a pic.

Thanks!

cool, glad to hear it fits still... I would have suggested the pro comp xtreme at's if i'd seen this post sooner... I have them and they are performing awesome. I personally have 32~34k on mine (bought the rims & tires used with about 1~2k on them) and they still have a lot of tread left. I ad looked into a taller narrower tire but found a killer deal on a duplicate set for $400 bux I could not pass up. they are 33's on 18" rims, I have about 1" to spare. I think it depends on how the garage door frame was built, I'd think they should be a standard height but based on your post, maybe not. I posted pics when I brought the new set home so if your interested, search for pro comp xtreme & my user name and you should find it...
